CDM Principal Designer
The principal designer’s role is to plan, manage and monitor the pre-construction phase, to coordinate health and safety matters and ensure on-time delivery of the design. This is where we, as principal designer, bring value. We believe that strong collaboration and communication between designers and client is critical to a project’s success.
Success in the pre-construction phase is achieved by engaging with the client and the design team, and by reviewing processes to reduce design hazards, aligned with the hierarchal principles of prevention.
Competency at every stage
We assist our clients to ensure those working on a project are competent to discharge their legal duties as defined by the regulations. We review the competence of designers and contractors to ensure they have the necessary skills and experience for safe project execution.

The ‘3 Cs’ reflect our approach that ensures that during pre-construction and into the construction phase information is shared, design hazards are discussed and mitigated, and risks are reduced. We ensure all design disciplines and stakeholders have a voice and are considered throughout a project.
As the principal designer, we plan, manage, monitor and coordinate health and safety during the design development phase. Identifying and controlling foreseeable risks, ensuring designers fulfil their duties and providing relevant information to other duty holders are our key areas of focus.
