Associate
Eric Harvan is an associate licensed Structural Engineer at ý, with over a decade of experience.
Eric has delivered projects throughout the US and internationally, with a particular focus on the US Northeast and Midwest markets. He enjoys solving complex challenges with elegance and efficiency, through close coordination with clients and design teams. His experience spans numerous sectors, including commercial, higher education, laboratory, and renovation projects.
Eric’s recent projects include Scaife Hall at Carnegie Mellon University, which serves as the home of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Scaife Hall includes vibration-sensitive wet/dry labs, modern and flexible classrooms and collaboration spaces, faculty offices, and a drone arena. Eric led the structural design of Amy Gutmann Hall at the University of Pennsylvania, which will house labs and classrooms for the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Gutmann Hall is Philadelphia’s first mass timber building, and one of the largest mass timber buildings on the East Coast. As an advocate for sustainable design, Eric hopes the groundbreaking project inspires the growth of mass timber design and the reduction of embodied carbon in the construction industry.
